Soil Enzymatic Activities and Microbial Community Structure in Soils Polluted with Tetracycline Antibiotics

چکیده

A laboratory experiment was performed to examine the medium-term influence of three tetracycline antibiotics (chlortetracycline, CTC; tetracycline, TC and oxytetracycline, OTC) at different concentrations in four agricultural soils with similar pH soil organic content. After a 42-days incubation period, enzymes (?-glucosidase, urease, phosphomonoesterase) were estimated, as well phospholipid fatty acids (PLFAs). residual effect observed on all microbial parameters measured affecting activity communities structure (PLFA pattern). sensitivity detected depending both, type property considered. Specifically, general, no antibiotic or even slight positive for phosphomonoesterase ?-glucosidase enzyme activities, respectively, while negative urease values, particularly higher doses low matter The principal component analysis PLFAs data obtained samples showed mainly type, followed by added (CTC, and, lesser extent, its concentration. In PLFA patterns due OTC addition comparison treated CTC. These results could be environmentally relevant, especially regards potential effects microbiome hence health risk assessment these soils.

Effects of six selected antibiotics on plant growth and soil microbial and enzymatic activities.

The potential impact of six antibiotics (chlortetracycline, tetracycline and tylosin; sulfamethoxazole, sulfamethazine and trimethoprim) on plant growth and soil quality was studied by using seed germination test on filter paper and plant growth test in soil, soil respiration and phosphatase activity tests. The phytotoxic effects varied between the antibiotics and between plant species (sweet o...

Effects of sulfonamide and tetracycline antibiotics on soil microbial activity and microbial biomass.

Increasingly often soil residual concentrations of pharmaceutical antibiotics are detected, while their ecotoxic relevance is scarcely known. Thus, dose related effects of two antibiotics, sulfapyridine and oxytetracycline, on microorganisms of two different topsoils were investigated. The fumigation-extracted microbial C (E(C)) and ergosterol were determined to indicate soil microbial and fung...

Microbial Community Structure of a Leachfield Soil: Response to Intermittent Aeration and Tetracycline Addition

Soil-based wastewater treatment systems, or leachfields, rely on microbial processes for improving the quality of wastewater before it reaches the groundwater. These processes are affected by physicochemical system properties, such as O2 availability, and disturbances, such as the presence of antimicrobial compounds in wastewater. We examined the microbial community structure of leachfield meso...

Soil fertility and plant diversity enhance microbial performance in metal-polluted soils.

This study examined the effects of soil physicochemical properties (including heavy metal pollution) and vegetation parameters on soil basal respiration, microbial biomass, and the activity and functional richness of culturable soil bacteria and fungi. In a zinc and lead mining area (S Poland), 49 sites were selected to represent all common plant communities and comprise the area's diverse soil...

Effects of Soil Moisture and Nickel Contamination on Microbial Respiration Rates in Heavy Metal-Polluted Soils

Soil microorganisms may be both sensitive and resilient to various disturbances. The effects of a single stressor on soil microorganisms have been well studied, but only limited research has been carried out to test the effects of simultaneous action of diverse stressors. Soil samples were collected from a long-term polluted zinc and lead site and an unpolluted site. Modeling studies assumed sp...
